Irish and english

The Irish (Gaeilge), also known as Irish Gaelic or simply Gaelic, a language isspoken as a native language on the island of Ireland for about 104 000 people,mostly in western rural areas of the island. Irish was the main language of the island before the British conquered it during the Middle Ages.
The Irish is now the mother tongue of just over 2% of the population of Ireland.
